Daniela Mileykovsky is a filmmaker born to refugees from Uzbekistan. English was her second language and before she had the words to express herself, she learned to communicate through images; first through drawing and painting, then through the camera. Visual arts became how she understood the world and how she still processes it today. She has spent over a decade working as a cinematographer, collaborating on narrative films, TV Shows, commercials and documentaries, which aired on Discovery, Netflix, Hulu, PBS, and more. Her recent work includes Season 2 of Our American Story, the SXSW premiering documentary Preconceived and BET Network's season 2 of The Couch and The Waiting Room, where she collaborated with directors Yvette Nicole Brown and Vivica A. Fox. At every stage of her life, she stays connected to the same impulse that brought her here: the belief that the image can speak where language falters.
